Conditions We Treat

Hyperwell Oxygen Centers provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy for a range of medical conditions, including complex wounds, chronic bone infections, radiation injuries and compromised circulation.

Medicare-Covered Indications

The following conditions are recognized by Medicare for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Eligibility for treatment is determined by a clinical evaluation.

Our clinic strictly adheres to evidence-based medicine and treats conditions that have been proven to benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy and are recognized by Medicare and most commercial insurance providers.

Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Lower extremity wounds classified as Wagner grade III or higher that have failed to respond to a standard course of wound care. Covered under CMS NCD 20.29.

Chronic Refractory Osteomyelitis

A persistent infection of the bone that has not responded to appropriate medical and surgical interventions over an extended period.

Osteoradionecrosis & Soft-Tissue Radiation Injury

Delayed tissue damage caused by prior radiation therapy, including damage to the jaw, head and neck, or pelvic regions, as well as radiation cystitis and proctitis.

Compromised Skin Grafts and Flaps

Skin grafts or surgical flaps that are failing or showing signs of compromised blood supply and tissue death, when surgical correction is not feasible.

Selected Necrotizing Soft-Tissue Infections

Severe, rapidly progressing bacterial infections of the deep skin and tissue layers (including clostridial myonecrosis/gas gangrene), treated in conjunction with surgical debridement and antibiotics.

Actinomycosis

A chronic bacterial infection caused by Actinomyces species that has not responded adequately to standard antibiotic therapy. HBOT is used as an adjunct to antibiotics and surgery.

Acute Peripheral Arterial Insufficiency

Sudden reduction in blood flow to the limbs resulting in ischemic tissue damage, when revascularization is not an option or as an adjunct to other treatments.

Important Notice Regarding Emergency Care

Hyperwell Oxygen Centers is an outpatient facility. We do not treat emergency acute indications such as Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, Decompression Sickness (the bends), or Acute Arterial Gas Embolism. Patients requiring emergency hyperbaric care should go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Eligibility & Coverage

Coverage and eligibility for each condition is determined by a thorough clinical evaluation and applicable insurance coverage criteria.

Our team will assist with verifying insurance benefits and obtaining necessary authorizations prior to beginning a course of treatment.
